Glorify God, Edify Men
We all know that in our daily life, the things we do should be always glorifying God and edifying men. As usual this is like any other theories, easier said then done.
But what does it mean by glorifying God and edifying men? Simply put will be whatever we do, it will only bring glory to our Father, God. And also do our actions bring edification to people when they see our actions and behavior.
Today, in our life we are always known to people as the son of so and so, or the brother or sis of so and so, or the parents of so and so etc, we are always been linked to someone where ever we go. When this people say you are the so and so to someone, do this people say it will the head shaking or people reacted positively? Do you bring a good name to the person you are linked with? If someone say that LQ is the son of pr. Chin, and people go ohh, then why he so naughty? Then I am not bringing a good name to my father. Similarly today if someone say hey so and so is the son of the True God, if this person is you, what do you think the reaction of people when they hear this will be? Or are we even ashamed to let people know that we are the believer of the True God with fear that people will say why we not bring good to His name? This is something for us to work on and hope that all of us will reach a time in our life where we can boldly say we are the son of the True and Living God, and when people hear that will say oh, no wonder you are so good! And with that I think we will have brought glory to our Father.
But bringing glorification to God is not only with our actions. The things that we do when people cannot see us, or the silent thoughts that we have in our heart must also bring glorification to God. If our thoughts are wrong when we do the “right” things, does it really bring the true glorification to God? Does God really desire this type of glory? If every thought in us and every action we do are upright, even the angels will glorify God for that!
Edifying Men. Is what we are doing causing people to fall? Especially we are in the True Church, if what we do cause people to fall from the faith, we are in great trouble. Today in life we are all the time doing things that may seem a small thing to us, but actually this things may affect others a lot. Are these effects on others positive or negative? This is something for us to ponder. Our small actions if we do not think before we do may cause others to fall from the faith. Similar if we do the right thing, no matter how small, it will bring edifications to people. But how do we know what we do bring what effects? Well this is something not easily to explain, maybe first thing first whatever we do must be according to the will of God, or not against the will of God. The rest of the things maybe before we do something, think, if we are the person seeing our friend doing the same thing, what will our feeling or reaction be?
All in all, actions and thoughts that bring Glorification to God and Edification to Men is something that we must learn as we pursue perfection in life on earth. It is not something easily achievable, but if we put our heart into it, I am sure even if we are not perfect in it at the end of our life, God will see into our hearts and know that we are pursuing it with all our heart. Now let us start today to ponder before we do actions, or say any words or think any thoughts whether it will glory God and Edify Men. Pray for each other that we are able to be perfect in this.
