臺灣之旅 (Tour of Taiwan)
Well, for many years i always wanted to visit Taiwan, finally fulfilled my wish. Always wanted to see how Taiwan look like, because through the years i have gotten to know so many people from Taiwan, from Theolos that i attend, from churches i go to and also all the Taiwan preachers that i have met, and through all of them, the wish to visit Taiwan was deeply implanted in me.
To sum it all, i will like to say i really enjoyed the trip and also to me the trip have been very fulfilling. In the trip, i got to know new friends, met old friends and made good friends, and these to me are really what that is important and thus making the trip and the memories from it something that i would remember and cherish for the rest of my life.
With the desire in me to visit Taiwan, i really jumped on the opportunity to go when it appeared before me. So in dec last year i left Singapore for 臺北 with Serene, Ed, and the South African Taiwaneses Don, Car and Jeff.
After spending nearly 11 days in Taiwan, and visiting places like 臺北,花蓮,墾丁 etc, what i have gotten back from the trip are lots of fond memories and lots and lots (truckloads) of pictures -courtesy of Car and Serene :)
I will not go through the daily things that we have done in Taiwan, for that we can refer to Serene's blog entry (which can be found somewhere here: http://beyondserenity.blogspot.com/2008_01_07_archive.html).
What i will do here is to list down things that happened in the trip that are interesting, or that are meaningful for me or things that have left deep impressions in me, and also maybe share a few photos here and there (the rest of the photos can be found at www.lingqian.fotopic.net/c1440445.html). So here goes:
- The first thing we ate in Taiwan and it could also be the "best" food in Taiwan: 臺灣雞排 (www.lingqian.fotopic.net/p47785736.html)
- Meeting new friends Faye and BiWei, ShuQing and 宏恩, ShuYi and 凱祥 and the parents of all of them (who is the Uncle and Auntie of Don and Car).
- Meeting my dear 兄弟,Jerick.
- The 4 nights (out of 10) we spent at 士林夜市. The shops there are highly mobile, and good luck to you if you want to find one particular stall there :)
- Going to the first church in Taiwan, 石牌教會 and meeting a power lady preacher 陳麗榮傳道. When she introduced us, she went: "Singapore youths are very good, they can discuss the truth with the pastors of another Church", all this while looking at me and then saying "right?", i was like, "eh, dun look at me, coz i cant" :) Fellowship with the preacher and the church members from 石牌教會 after service (www.lingqian.fotopic.net/p47785200.html).
- Meeting my dear old pal, David and his girlfriend for supper (www.lingqian.fotopic.net/p47785187.html)
- Sabbath at 淡水教會, one of the grandest TJC church builiding i have seen in my life. Comes complete with pipe organ (www.lingqian.fotopic.net/p47785427.html).
- Taiwan is like a paradise to Ed, why? Ans: (www.lingqian.fotopic.net/p47784575.html) and he had 2 of it in 10mins............
- Passed my2716th birthday in Taiwan. Don and Car's Uncle and Auntie's family cut a cake with me, a very special birthday to me. A BIG thank you to all of you (www.lingqian.fotopic.net/p47785373.html).
- Our favourite pastime in Taiwan that we do when we have lots of free time like on the trains to and fro 花蓮 and 墾丁, UNO!!. And Car saying that we are addicts :)
- Favourite quote in Taiwan is by our tour guide in 花蓮: "花蓮有三大土產,一:地震,二:臺風................" i refused to continue hearing what he say :)
- 太魯閣 (Taroko gorge), here, i really saw how marvelous the creations of God are, and truly how insignificant we humans are (www.lingqian.fotopic.net/p47785757.html).
- Lavander tea taste horrible by common consensus of the 5 of us (Don, Car, Serene, Ed & me).
- Yield, for failing to do so is death (www.lingqian.fotopic.net/p47785443.html).
- Got conned by the 臺北101 fireworks. Lasted only at most 3 mins...
- Serene and her trench coat........................
- Whose eyes are the biggest of them all? (www.lingqian.fotopic.net/p47784959.html)
- Why are there so many dogs in Taiwan? Nobody eating them? Car's 帥 dog: www.lingqian.fotopic.net/p47785662.html
- No comments.......... www.lingqian.fotopic.net/p47785794.html
- Serene and her not so secret admirer a.k.a Mr. Local Tour Guide.
- Us trying to sneek into Church, so that we will not be introduced :)
- Meeting another best friend of mine, Keni. Haha, he is 2 times the width of what he used to be, nearly could not recognize him...
- Glad to know Car in this trip, dun think i have spoken to her before before this trip, though i have seen her in Singapore for 3 years, cos i am shy. Car, you are Awesome :)

- Happy to spend time with my little mei mei Serene the self-proclaimed princess a.k.a shopping queen and also Ed, as i would not have much time to spend time with them in the next few years.
- Jeff, looking forward to see you again in Singapore.
- Jer, i am expecting you in Sydney to visit soon :)
And here also special thanks to Faye for helping us organize and plan the trip, 宏恩 and ShuQing for letting us to stay in their house and Don for inviting me to the trip :)
